Our Founder

Fundacja Dwóch Serc (Two Hearts Foundation) was founded in memory of its inspiring creator, Anna Kleszcz (1952–2023). For many years, Ania lived with chronic pain, which made everyday life incredibly difficult. Yet even through her own struggles, she never lost her deep compassion for others and firmly believed that helping one another is the very foundation of a decent society.

Her personal experience taught her how closely physical health is linked to mental wellbeing, our sense of security, and the quality of our relationships. She came to realise that a mental health crisis is rarely an isolated event, but often the result of prolonged suffering, exclusion, or a lack of proper support.

Ania worked tirelessly to improve access to treatment for chronic pain, both in Poland and further afield. She was equally passionate about mental health and fighting discrimination in all its forms. She strongly opposed any exclusion based on gender, origin, sexual orientation, religion (or lack thereof), or any other part of a person’s identity. Above all, she believed in the equal worth and dignity of every human being.

The team at Fundacja Dwóch Serc proudly carries forward Ania’s values. We focus primarily on supporting people experiencing mental health crises and on strengthening mental wellbeing. At the same time, we work to tackle discrimination and to support those living with chronic pain. Like Ania, we believe that real help begins with understanding, and that lasting change is only possible when we see the world as something we all share, and treat every person with genuine respect.
